Doing Something Wonderful
"What I do you cannot do; but what you do, I cannot do. The needs are great, and none of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful.” Mother Teresa

Fr. Luke Melcher
This wonderful Priest Baptised my sweet son. Today on the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord, I am reminded of him and all of the excellent things that he is doing for the beauty of our Faith and all of those whose lives he has changed and will continue to.
Fr. Melcher to pursue doctorate

Rev. Luke Melcher, chaplain for the Louisiana College and LSU-Alexandria Catholic Student Organization, has been given permission by Bishop Ronald Herzog to pursue a licentiate (license) in Sacred Liturgy (SL.L), and a doctorate in Sacred Liturgy (SL.D) through the Pontifical Liturgical Institute at the Pontifical University of Sant’ Anselmo in Rome.
After completing the 3-5 year license and doctoral program, Father Melcher will be qualified to teach Liturgy as a professor of Liturgy at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Ohio.
Effective May, 2011, Father Melcher will leave the diocese and move to Europe, where he will prepare for his studies in Rome by becoming proficient in French, Italian, Koine Greek, and Latin. Italian is necessary for his academic classes and the language he will have to use to write and defend his dissertation. The other languages are necessary for research. In October, he will begin the academic degree program and live at the North American house of studies for priests, the Casa Santa Maria in Rome.
Father Melcher said he has always felt the desire to pray and study more deply and to help men become priests. He has felt a calling to do this for several year; but only recently did he act upon it.
“I talked to the Bishop (Herzog) about this and he recognized it as a ‘calling within a calling,’” said Father Melcher. “The bishop’s awareness of the teaching needs of the Josephinum and his awareness of my openess to serve, has led to this opportunity.

Not So Much

My Beautiful little son asks me while we were putting on hi pjs last night: "mom why do you call me 'baby' so much?" To which I replied, "because you will always be my baby." He thought on the reasoning for my term of endearment and then after a very long pause looks at me and declares "No, not baby. You may call me Drew Donovan...that's it, do you hear me?" It was all that I could do not to hit the floor laughing with a little bit of a tear mixed in due to the fact that my THREE year old felt the need to assert himself so. Imagine the irony of it all today as we are getting ready for a brisk morning walk (me huffing and puffing/him on his 4 wheeler) and after he demands the spider man helmet because "nothing else maked him go as fast" he looks around with fright in his big blue eyes and asks frantically "mom where is my bear? YOU KNOW bear wif red sweater?" I hand him bear with a little smirk glad that he is hanging on a little to his baby ways I guess...he takes bear from my hand and explains to bear how important it is for him to stay close to him on the 4 wheeler so he won't fall off. Maybe the baby is gone...maybe not so much ;)

Workin' Hard for the $
Started the first week of this new year off well;showed houses all morning and listed my first commercial listing ever. All of these things after attempting and mastering my Grandmother's roast on New Year's Day (invited my Mother-in-law to eat lunch...that's how confident I was). Yea, from the looks of it this 2011 thing will be a piece of cake (or Grandmother's roast). Nice to meet you New Year, I'm armed and ready!
